In 2006, YouTube was only eight months old. My colleagues and I decided that the time was right to use the medium to tell an ambitious story about a homeschooled girl who begins to suspect her parents are members of a cult.

The result was YouTube's first viral hit. The show garnered over 60 million views and won a Webby award for best series.

Here are the first four videos as they appeared on YouTube in the summer of 2006

ABC News and Wired magazine partnered for a cover story and an 8 minute segment that led Nightline hosted by Martin Bashir.
